Next Level : Nicki Minaj

6 Jan

It has been awhile since a female hip hop artist at the level of Onika Maraj(better known by her stage name Nicki Minaj) has been able to propel herself to super stardom in such a short time.  The Queens native collaborated with Lil Wayne on a mixtape in 2007 called Playtime Is Over and since then she’s been putting the hip hop world on notice. She’s now officially part of the Young Money Records family; also home to Toronto native/ former Degrassi star Drake. Nicki’s first big collaboration was with her label mate on the remix to his song,  Best I Ever Had. No stranger to sexy men, Nicki has also collaborated Robin Thicke, and just recently with Usher Raymond on his new single, Little Freak, which is produced by hip hop’s newest heavyweight producer, Pollow Da Don. The single will appear on Usher’s highly anticipated new record, Raymond Vs Raymond. Nicki’s wordplay has garnered her a lot of respect in the hip hop world and her brash approach to sexuality(her bisexuality to be specific) has really set a new bar for sassy female MC’s. Expect to hear Nicki drop more jaw dropping, innuendo soaked hooks on her debut album, which due out sometime in 2010. The girl is great. Honestly, listen to Little Freak carefully.  Also, she did a cover of Biggie’s song, The Warning(My friend Derek(Grasshopper) loved this shit).

she is pretty wicked with her rhymes, I used to be really into the whole YM/CM clan but I randomly watched the lil wayne documentary and I now strongly despise the man and everything attached to him :/,
and I still think Kid Sister is the bombbb, there was rumored beef between the two ladies, but I believe it was just that- rumors.
