Broken Bells First Show

22 Feb

It was announced sometime last week that Broken Bells would be playing their debut show in Los Angelas. According to The Los Angelas Times, the venue with a capacity of 200 people was filled almost immediately. The highlight of the night was the Neutral Milk hotel cover for the song “In The Aeroplane Over The Sea”. A lot of industry music nerds are comparing the band’s sound on stage to that of The Beta Band, which is pretty rad. Brian Burton(Danger Mouse) was pretty much on drums for their entire hour long set; switching to keyboard for one song and guitar for the other. Their full band for the show included : Conor Oberst’s Mystic Valley sidemen Nate Walcott and Nik Freitas, and Jonathan Hischke and Dan Elkan, both ex-members of Hella. Here is the set list :

The High Road
Your Head Is on Fire
The Ghost Inside
Sailing to Nowhere
Trap Doors
Mongrel Heart
The Mall and the Misery
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Crimson & Clover

Their self titled debut album drops on March 9th, 2010. Hopefully their concerts will continue to turn heads.
