Next Level : We Were Promised Jetpacks

23 Mar

Undoubtedly a banner year for fresh-faced music, Glasgow’s We Were Promised Jetpacks continue the 2010 legacy of awesome, bringing with them the enthusiasm, exuberance and energy reminiscent of early Arctic Monkeys.

Signed to Fat Cat records in 2008 after forming in Edinburgh in 2003, the alt-rock four-piece began encompassing all things buzz-worthy after their three-track demo scored serious radio play and went on to win KEXP’s “Best Track of the Day”– prior to being signed.  Eventually going on to tour with fellow Scots, (the increasingly popular) Frightened Rabbit, We Were Promised Jetpacks earned kudos for their stage presence and even more acclaim following the release of their debut album, These Four Walls, in June of 2009.

Currently coming off their North American tour, the band is back in the UK and plans to take Europe by storm as of April 15 when they’ll head to Germany and the Netherlands to undoubtedly increase their ever-growing fan base.  While they’ve only managed to make one Canadian appearance as of late, here’s hoping that as their star continues to rise, we’ll have more Jetpacks in our future.
