Gobble Gobble Member Reveals Solo Project, Purity Ring

17 Jan

One of the things I’ve grown to love about Gobble Gobble is how little they share with the media. These kids are definitely letting the music speak for itself and leaving everything else up for interpretation. Adding another piece to their mysterious puzzle, Gobble Gobble member Corin Roddick and his friend Megan have embarked on a new side project called Purity Ring. Transient Nodes posted their first track a few days ago. You can hear the beautifully distorted pop tune, Ungirthed, below :

Patrick Wolf Reveals “The City” And The Title Of His New Record

17 Jan

His last effort, The Bachelor,  was dark, beautiful, and much like Patrick Wolf himself; very dramatic. But that was almost two years ago and I think P.Wolf is done being sad, don’t you ? Neon Waves has come across the brand new Patrick Wolf single titled The City (He got the scoop via Aboycommemoi. However runs this blog really likes Patrick Wolf). Patrick Wolf delivers an upbeat pop song that definitely makes you wonder what else he’s got up his sleeve for the next record. Speaking of which,  it’s been confirmed that Lupercalia is the album title and it’ll drop in May. Listen to The City below :

Patrick also recently sat down with NME to talk about the cleaner sound on this record. Check it out here

New Blackbird Blackbird, Sunsigns

16 Jan

San Francisco’s Blackbird Blackbird have been hustling as of late. First the gorgeous Beach House remix, then the gloomy, experimental pop banger, She’s Got Everything(they dropped that track on The Fadar a few days ago). I don’t think 2011 is ready for these dudes. They just keep putting out awesome track, after awesome track. The latest is a song called Sunsigns, which see’s the band continue on their “experimental” tip. Dramatic, drum heavy, and just plain crazy, this song is sure to cause a few tears on the dance floor, but believe me when I tell you that you’ll love every second of it. Listen to the track below :

Crystal Stilts New Album, In Love With Oblivion

12 Jan

After dazzling us with their critically acclaimed debut, Alight Of Night, Brooklyn’s Crystal Stilts have announced the follow-up, which drops on April 12th(via Slumberland Records). The record is called In Love With Oblivion and lovely cover above is the album artwork. According to the press release from Force Field PR(you can also confirm this news on Exclaim), In Love With Oblivion sets the bar even higher. Moving away from the dark and dreamy psych pop of Alight Of Night, the records sound expands into a more fuzzed out, haunting, atmospheric post-punk pop. I think this record is going to kill. Here’s the tracklist :

1. “Sycamore Tree”
2. “Through the Floor”
3. “Silver Sun”
4. “Alien Rivers”
5. “Half a Moon”
6. “Flying into the Sun”
7. “Shake the Shackles”
8. “Precarious Stair”
9. “Invisible City”
10. “Blood Barons”
11. “Prometheus at Large”

If you haven’t heard the first single, Shake The Shackles, listen to it below :
